Simons Atomic Electric Hot Water Heater for Commercial & Industrial Heating

The Simons Atomic Electric Hot Water Heater is a compact packaged electric water heater designed for commercial hydronic heating, HVAC and industrial process hot water systems.

Unlike conventional gas-fired water heaters, the Atomic uses electric immersion elements combined with precision Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR) power control. This allows the heater output to modulate smoothly to match the actual thermal demand of the system, providing accurate outlet water temperature control while reducing unnecessary cycling.

With no gas burner, combustion fan or mechanical gas valves, the Atomic provides quiet operation and eliminates on-site combustion emissions, making it well suited to electrification projects and commercial plant rooms where gas is being reduced or removed.

Precision SCR Power Control

The Atomic uses Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR) power control rather than relying solely on conventional mechanical contactor staging.

SCR control allows the electrical heating output to closely follow the actual thermal load of the system. This provides smooth modulation across changing heating demands, helping maintain stable outlet water temperatures while reducing short cycling and mechanical contactor wear.

The PLC ramp-up logic also progressively introduces electrical load, helping reduce large electrical inrush and peak-demand spikes when the heater starts.

Electric Immersion Heating

High-grade electric immersion elements transfer heat directly into the system water, providing rapid response and warm-up.

The multi-stage element arrangement provides balanced thermal distribution across the heater and allows multiple elements to share the heating load. This provides redundancy while reducing individual element stress.

BMS & Control Integration

The Atomic is equipped with an industrial PLC control architecture and high-resolution HMI touchscreen for straightforward operation and monitoring.

Native Modbus communication allows integration with compatible Building Management Systems, making the heater suitable for modern commercial HVAC installations where central monitoring and control are required.

Compact Plant Room Design

The Atomic is designed as a compact packaged water heater to minimise the amount of plant room floor space required.

Electrical components and heating elements are accessible from the front of the unit, helping simplify servicing and allowing the heater to be incorporated into space-conscious commercial plant rooms.

Flow and return connections are located at the rear of the heater.

Electric Heating for Building Electrification

Electric water heating can provide a practical alternative to traditional gas-fired plant where a building is transitioning toward electrification.

With no open flame or combustion process, the Atomic produces no on-site combustion emissions and removes the requirement for a conventional gas burner and associated combustion equipment.

It can also be used alongside heat pump systems as a high-temperature booster or supplementary heat source where additional heating capacity is required.
